Our cocktail recipe guide lists a range of classic and less popular recipes you may want to try. Handed down over the years from bartenders from around the world, these recipes are intended to help anyone prepare delicious cocktails from their own home. Accompanied by advice on bartending basics in our short guide to mixology, they provide a useful starting point for anyone with an interest in cocktails and bartending.
All recipes are based on using fresh fruits, including freshly squeezed or pressed fruit juices. This ensures the cocktails taste as they were intended, rather than using subsitutes like fruit concentrates or ready-mixed ingredients.
Where a specific brand forms an important part of a recipe, we mention it directly - otherwise most recipes focus on the generic ingredients, such as vodka or gin. Of course, from time to time we like to mention certain brands we like in particular in our blog and cocktail guide.
You can review recipes by type, to find the style of cocktail you enjoy most or that is best suited to the type of event you are planning. All types of cocktails are featured, including hot cocktails, Martini or on the rocks cocktails, shooters or tall cocktails, tropical drinks and punches, champagne cocktails and more. If you know the name of a particular cocktail, you can search by name or according to the first letter of the name.
Each recipe is broken down into 3 sections: a brief introduction, how to make it and reviews and comments. The introduction is intended to provide some context to each cocktail including if it is available, a little bit of history and some indications of the flavours to expect. You'll find exact measures for each ingredient, including the type of garnish and methods used to prepare the cocktail.
In some cases, adding or replacing ingredients can help produce a completely different cocktail, and you may be able to substitute certain ingredients if you don't have them all to hand. You'll learn exactly which cocktail glass to use and how to ensure you prepare a perfect cocktail every time.
If you have a limited number of ingredients at home and you're not sure what to prepare, you can also seach by tag to see all the cocktails that are based on a given ingredient.
Your thoughts and ideas are welcome, and you're invited to rate and review each recipe to give your own feedback. Love a certain cocktail but only when it is made in a specific way? Let us know! If you've tasted a cocktail we're missing, or know a great cocktail yourself, why not add a cocktail recipe yourself?
Don't forget to check the latest and most popular cocktail recipes for inspiration. Over time and with your help, we hope to include lots more delicious cocktail recipes.
