Last call for world's longest serving bartender

Angelo Cammarata, the world's longest serving bartender according to the Guinness Book of World Records, has finally decided to retire. He started bartending 77 years ago on the day prohibition of beer and wine sales ended in the United States.

Angelo served his first beer at his dad's grocery store at the stroke of midnight on 7 April 1933. 21 years later, he relocated Cammarata's Cafe to West View, Pennsylvania, where he has worked behind the bar pretty much ever since. He did take a 6 year break in the 1970's, when he only bartended on weekends.

In his TV interview on KD Country, he recalls the the night beer sales became legal again in the US:

"About 10 minutes to 12, a beer truck pulled up in front of the curb on our street, pulled up alongside our sidewalk, had 500 cases of beer on there."

The 95 year old bartender is confident his record won't be broken anytime soon:

"Anyone who wants to break my record, I'm in my 77th year and I don't think there's another crazy person in this world that would try that."

Cammarata's Cafe closesA sign in Cammarata's Cafe suggests Angelo will be fondly missed in the tight Pittsburgh community:

"77 years have come and gone (56 years in West View). We would like to thank each and every one of our friends. Some we have known for generations and we consider you a large part of our family. Thank you."

Hats off to Angelo, who's likely to retain his title for quite some time.
