Boston

Boston cocktail glassAlthough the Boston glass is not usually used for drinking, it is essential for mixing cocktails.

It forms one half of the Boston Shaker, designed to be combined with the smaller tin section for shaking cocktails.

The Boston glass is tall, heavy and solid with a thick rim, to ensure it does not break when used for shaking. It can also be used to stir cocktails with ice.

The usual capacity to brim of a Boston glass is around 17oz (48cl), making it one of the largest cocktail glasses. This ensures it can contain plenty of ice with spare capacity to allow for efficient shaking.

Unless you prefer to use a Standard Shaker, it is essential to have a Boston glass to hand for all your cocktail mixing.
