Hurricane

Hurricane

Hurricane cocktail glassThe pear shaped Hurricane glass takes its name from its similarity with hurricane lamps.

It is particularly reminiscent of Piña Colada and other sweet, exotic, fruity cocktails, giving it a slightly ‘disco’ connotation. With its wide, undulating bowl sitting on top of a long stem, it is designed to contain lots of crushed ice.

The Hurricane glass is often called the ‘poco grande’ and usually used for frozen or blended cocktails. Its wide rim is ideal for hanging fruit garnishes, such as orange or pineapple wedges.

A Hurricane glass typically ranges between 11oz (32cl) to 15oz (43cl) in size. It is not essential to own a Hurricane glass, as it can be replaced by either a Collins or a Goblet (or wine glass).
