Just like others like the Sour or Old-fashioned, it takes its name from the famous cocktail. A Martini glass can also be used where recipes refer to a Coup. Unlike many long drinks, most cocktails that are served in a Martini glass are not served over ice. This explains why the average Martini glass is usually 5.5oz (16cl) to 7oz (20cl). This is an ideal size: any larger, there is a risk that the contents may warm up as it would take longer for the drinker to finish. In addition, it is recommended to chill a Martini glass before using it, either by placing it in the freezer for half and hour or filling it with crushed ice and water or soda while you are mixing the cocktail. The Martini glass is synonymous with serving cocktails, making it one of the essential cocktail glasses for any bar. Related Content
