Orange juice |
|
Perhaps the most commonly used fruit juice for mixing cocktails, orange juice is packed with vitamin C and extremely easy to make yourself. Orange juice is featured in a very wide range of cocktails ranging from Air Mail, Garibaldi to Harvey Wallbanger. The best types of oranges to use for making fresh orange juice for cocktails are Washington Navels, which are juicy without being too sweet. The skin of these oranges is also perfect for cutting zest twists. As a general rule, avoid squeezing an orange juice immediately after taking the fruit out of a refrigerator, as cold fruit tend to produce less juice. Depending on how you press an orange, the zest can also release a different amount of aromatic oils, which also has an impact on the flavour of the juice. If you decide to buy orange juice, avoid the type that is made from concentrate, or that has not been fully filtered (e.g. 'with bits'), focusing on the smooth variety. Related Content
